Well, I went to test out the new Target price match policy this morning. I have to say I was very pleased and impressed. I took my Walgreen's ad and my Target ad and stopped the first manager I saw. He explained the rules to me:
1 - you must bring the entire ad for price matching not just the page that the item is on
2 - the items must be identical in every way - brand, size, etc. for example, they would not price match Walgreen's pencils with Target's pencils.
3 - you must take all price match items to customer service not the regular register
4 - in the case of Walgreen's, they will match the price of a Walgreen's coupon. these are the ones on the front of the ad. I did not ask about how they will handle register rewards from Walgreen's or extra care bucks from CVS.
